That is why it is important to observe the students as they are practicing and confer with them if they aren't getting it. If enough of the class is not doing it correctly then it needs to be retaught and modeled again.","dateCreated":"1340143716","smartDate":"Jun 19, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"tlbhoutx","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/tlbhoutx","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"55091316","body":"I believe modeling is the most effective way to teach. I have only been and SEI math teacher so everything I taught I modeled over and over again. To check my students understanding I would have them model it for as if I had no idea of the concept. If they were able to show me correctly what I taught them, I knew that they understood the concept. If they didn't, I knew what I needed to work on.","dateCreated":"1340145178","smartDate":"Jun 19, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"cshaw81","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/cshaw81","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"55091410","body":"In response to abbyroad1, I agree completely, I need to hear and see what is expected so that it will stick in my memory bank. Being that I teach in a low income kindergarten classroom many of my students need to see a demonstration of what is expected of them. This is a very important part of my classroom.","dateCreated":"1340154524","smartDate":"Jun 19, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"AMO33","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/AMO33","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"55094156","body":"In response to jch10930, I agree that when demonstration and modeling is used in the beginning to show expectations much less time is spent later correcting and reteaching. this allows for new teaching to continue throughout the year.
